Pi Day 2019

Pi Day events in the Department of Mathematics at Kennesaw State University (KSU). The number Pi (π) is a mathematical constant and is always celebrated on March 14th. Happy Pi Day!

Tuesday, March 12, 2019 → Calculus Bee

  • The KSU chapter of the Mathematical Association of America will be hosting a Calculus Bee. We will have snacks and prizes for the winners. We are planning two games: one with Calc I questions (i.e. differentiation problems), the other with Calc II questions (i.e. integration problems).

Thursday, March 14, 2019 → Pi Day Talk

  • "The Many Flavors of Pi"
  • TIME/LOCATION: 3:30-4:30pm, D-250, Marietta campus
  • ABSTRACT: This talk will be a celebration of the many different facets, or flavors, of pi! We will start with some interesting history and trivia about pi. We will then explore the fact that pi is irrational and transcendental and believed to be normal. During this interactive talk we will calculate pi for ourselves in two different ways and one of them will definitely surprise you!
  • Pizza and other pi related goodies to follow after the talk.
