We're Here for You, But It Looks a Little Different Right Now!

Due to recent developments at KSU, office operations have been altered to best assist our students.  Please check below for procedural information while teaching/instruction plans haved moved to an online format for the Spring 2020 semester.  Read all information before contacting an advisor.

Please continue to check the KSU website for information on university operations.

  • Registration for Summer/Fall semesters is currently open for current KSU students!  CSM Advisors are currently operating remotely to assist you during this time.  Feel free to email your advisor with your questions or schedule a virtual appointment with an advisor!

  • CSM Advising is utilizing "Microsoft Teams" for virtual appointments.  You will schedule an appointment with your assigned contact (listed above) through the Navigate software.  We highly encourage that you go ahead and download the Microsoft Teams desktop application and log in using your KSU account.

    Steps for a Virtual Meeeting:

    1. Download the Microsoft Teams desktop application and ensure you can log in
    2. Schedule your advising appointment through the Navigate software
    3. Log in to Microsoft Teams 5-10 minutes before your meeting to allow for time to adjust and ensure your technologies are working correctly.  You will at least need access to a microphone and computer screen for the meetings.  It is preferred that you have video capabilities so that you can have the full experience of an advising appointment
    4. When it is time for your meeting, your academic advisor will video conference you at the time your scheduled meeting is set to begin through Microsoft Teams

**If you are not sure how this process will work for you, please email your academic advisor so that they can assist**

    1. ALL- The College of Science and Mathematics has a no overload policy on courses (we cannot overfill our courses). Make sure you are utilzing the waitlist option, if available. If no waitlist is available, keep checking back to see if a seat has opened!
    2. CHEM is not utilizing any waitlists on labs.  There were past issues with students getting notifications for their labs seats before they were able to get into the lecture seats (and you cannot register for labs before getting into the lectures).
    3. CHEM-The Chemistry Department is working on hiring/staffing some of their labs (like CHEM 3361L).  But, the current state of affairs have slowed the process.  Continue to sporadically check for lab availability.  There is plenty of time before the Fall semester for things to potentially change! Worst case scenario, you can take the lecture and continue to progress with the lecture content.  The lab doesn't have to hold you back!
    4. ALL- No information has been shared with us pertaining to Summer/Fall 2020 instruction changing like it did for Spring 2020 (that Spring 2020 moved to fully online). Please continue to check KSU's website.
  • A student can still decide if they would like to Withdraw (with a W) prior to the last day of classes for the Spring 2020 term. Want more information? Check your KSU student email for correspondence sent from the university OR email an academic advisor (your point of contact can be found above)!
  • CSM Advising has gathered tips for assisting in your success while taking online courses from multiple sources.  Please look into the below resources as different strategies might be found in each of the items:
