Bio: Chuck is a Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Maxum Specialty Insurance Group where he is responsible for the Information Technology and Actuarial Departments, Internal Underwriting and Claim auditing, statistical reporting and predictive analytics initiatives. Chuck has over 30 years experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance Industry. He also served three years as the Research Director of a special project for the Administrative Office of the Courts of the Maryland Judiciary and three years as a Research Associate for the Mayor's Office of Manpower Resources, City of Baltimore. Chuck graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Frostburg State University and an M.A. in Psychology from Towson University where he taught General Psychology, Behavioral Statistics, Experimental Psychology and Psychology of Learning as a Visiting Instructor

Bio: Steve has been doing Advanced Analytics his entire professional career starting in Direct Marketing for Equifax, progressing to Epidemiology for the CDC, and currently heading up the Advanced Analytics Center of Excellence for The Home Depot. He has been on the KSU Statistical Advisory Board since its inception. Steve has been commuting to work on a bicycle for 20 years. He gets out from time to time to play drums in a couple of bands.

Bio: Bill Franks is Chief Analytics Officer for Teradata, providing insight on trends in the analytics & big data space and helping clients understand how Teradata and its analytic partners can support their efforts. In addition, Bill is a faculty member of the International Institute for Analytics and the author of the book Taming The Big Data Tidal Wave (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., April, 2012). He is also an active speaker and blogger. Bill’s focus has always been to help translate complex analytics into terms that business users can understand and to then help an organization implement the results effectively within their processes. His work has spanned clients in a variety of industries for companies ranging in size from Fortune 100 companies to small non-profit organizations. Bio: Ron Garmon is Kennesaw State University’s Data-Scientist-in-Residence. Mr. Garmon has a wealth of experience in the area of advanced analytics, including serving as the previous Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Officer at Equifax, he holds multiple analytics patents and he has incubated, developed and sold a highly successful analytics company. He currently works as an independent consultant for new ventures with particular focus on the monetization of data.

Bio: DLL Consulting Inc., a SAS Affiliate Partner, has three full time principle SAS Architects. We are based in Midtown Atlanta, Johns Creek, and Duluth, GA. Spencer, my son, Rebecca, my daughter, and I each have BASE SAS Programming Certifications and the two SAS Grid Architecture Certifications. Rebecca is the specialist in the SAS Grid-Platform Computing Software, Spencer is the specialist in SAS in the Cloud, Amazon Web Services implementations of SAS, and I am a UNIX Systems Architect and SAS Technical Architect preparing now for my SAS Advanced Programming Certification. We have other team members, (one a Ph.D) that are working with us on an as-needed basis.

Bio: Chris Nickerson is currently the Manager of Customer Analytics at Southern Company Services in Atlanta. Southern Company serves over 4 million electric customers in the southeastern U.S. His team provides marketing and customer service analytics to the four Southern Company regulated electric power subsidiaries in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. He has worked in the electric energy industry for 30 years. He has experience in marketing, finance, pricing, costing, and forecasting with Southern Company and spent 10 years working for an independent power producer that owned power plants in deregulated power generation markets in California, Texas, New York, and New England. During his tenure there he also did extensive work in the rates, cost of service and cost of capital areas as part of the team that developed and filed Jamaica Public Service’s inaugural 5-year rate plan as a non-government regulated entity. He has an undergraduate degree in Statistics and Economics from Virginia Tech and an MBA from the University of Alabama Birmingham.

Bio: Jerry L. Oglesby holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Texas A&M University. He currently works for SAS as the Senior Director of Global Academic Programs & Global Certification within the Education Division. These departments are charged with supporting SAS in the academic community and SAS certification worldwide. They have, as one of their major goals, the introduction of SAS training materials, SAS certification, and software in the curriculums of courses across many units within the universities. Prior to assuming the leadership of the Global Academic and Certification Programs, he was Director of Analytical Consulting within the Professional Services Division. As Director of Analytical Consulting he grew the Department from its formation to approximately forty modelers and business analysts whose primary function was to provide analytical support and expertise to SAS' sales force and customers. Prior to joining SAS in 1996, Jerry worked for Monsanto Chemical Company as Plant Statistician; was founder and CEO of SCI Data Systems, Inc.; and Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of West Florida.

Jerry received the Texas A&M University's College of Science Academy of Distinguished Former Students Award for 2012. In 2013, Jerry received the H.O. Hartley Award, which is presented annually to a former student of the Texas A&M University's Department of Statistics for their distinguished contributions to the discipline of statistics.


Brian Stone, 
Atlanticus
Bio: As the chief risk officer, Brian Stone is responsible for the day to day operations of Fortiva Financial. His responsibilities include underwriting, technology for customer acquisitions and loan support as well as customer support and collections. For Atlanticus Holdings, his responsibilities include model development and implementation, underwriting decisions, marketing analytics, and collections analysis. Over the previous 13 years, Mr. Stone has led the credit scoring group responsible for design, development and implementation of preapproved acquisition models for all three credit bureaus, invitation to apply models, transaction based behavior models scoring customers as early as their first day, week or month of usage through the entire lifecycle of the account, collections models for optimization of cost and recovery, and fraud application models.

Mr. Stone oversaw the target marketing efforts to optimize marketing dollars through the use of response models, activation models, and usage models. These strategies were blended with multi-dimensional risk models to produce a campaign list yielding the highest return on marketing spend. The credit card risk group was also responsible for the development of a monthly package of reports to monitor credit card campaigns for CPA, delinquency, chargeoff, balance build, and external credit profile. These standard reports were supplemented through adhoc reports produced when needed and added to the standard package when appropriate.

Prior to CompuCredit, Mr. Stone Joined Foretell, Inc. where he was the director of modeling and analysis. Prior to joining Foretell, Inc. Mr. Stone held various positions at First USA Bank in the credit policy and credit scoring departments.

Mr. Stone received his Masters of Science from Pennsylvania State University in Management Science and Information Systems, B.A. in Mathematics and B.A. in Statistics from the State University of New York at Buffalo

Bio: Peter leads Equifax’s Global Analytics team that focuses on identifying and driving innovative data and analytics solutions across Equifax. His focus areas include analytical product development, analytic innovation, and identity and fraud solutions across Equifax’s global markets. In 2015, the team increased analytical revenue contribution by over 10% while generating three-patent pending technologies and implementing a global fraud analytical solution. The key to the team’s success are insanely curious analysts with a customer focus that love to design market leading solutions.  Prior to joining Equifax, Peter led data and analytics teams across Card, Banking and Consumer and Small business lending at Capital One.  Peter serves on the Vantage Score board of directors and was a board member of Credit Builders Alliance from 2010 to 2016.

Bio: Spencer is Director of Analytics/BI at Cox Enterprises, responsible for partnering with business leaders at Cox to develop analytical and/or data driven technology solutions.  He and his team manage data platforms for advanced analytics, data visualization, and traditional financial consolidation/reporting systems.

Prior to his current role he was at Cox Communications, where he helped enable an enterprise advanced analytics platform (SAS Grid) for Customer Experience, Marketing Sciences, and Business Operations. Before joining Cox, Spencer gained consulting/service delivery experience at Viant/iXL, and technical experience at IDX Systems, a healthcare software company.

Mr. Taft received his education at Vanderbilt University where he received a B.A. in Psychology and he completed post-graduate financial courses at Wake Forest's Babcock Graduate School of Management. He currently serves as CO-Chair on the Data Science and Analytics Society within TAG Technology Association of Georgia.
